Summer Fun or not

Saturday, 12 April 2008 21:33 by Rhonda

You might wonder why I am thinking about summer camps in early April. Well because for the past six years my oldest one has gone to a great summer day camp sponsored by our local parks system. They go places, travel the city, visit all the area parks. Learn tons about the City we live it. She’s even found things we gone back and done as a family. It’s a great way to spend the long summer days. I wish I had gone to summer camp when I was a kid. They have tons of fun. Sometimes I still wish I could go!

Well… they are about twenty locations and she’s attended the same one each year. Well the area we live in is steadily growing. The school system is ranked number one in the State. Basically more families with kids are moving into the area each year. The day camp deal is, first come, first serve of course some locations fill faster than others.

April 12 was THE DAY. Well we’ve done this for years, I know be an hour early, stand in line, spend your entire day just to hand over a good deal of cash to assure your kids summer fun. Because these are the slowest people on the planet they get for registration day. Well… we arrive nearly an hour before it “OPENS” and ended up being about 15th on the waiting list. So no sit and wait. No summer fun.

BUT… we’ve done this for years, know another location (which is actually closer in location) never fills up as fast, it’s a larger facility. Get in the van, drive there, 10th in line, done in an hour. Viola, newer, larger facility, nice people, several friends in line, all is well in the world.

Friday Funnies

Friday, 11 April 2008 21:48 by Rhonda
I am forever getting funnies in my inbox. Some make me spew my diet coke. Some make me laugh til my sides hurt. Some are just lame. Still I love um. I thought I'd start having Friday Funnies and post a few.

To be happy with a woman you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.

Married men live longer than single men - but married men are a lot more willing to die.

Any married man should forget his mistakes - there's no use in two people remembering the same thing.

How do you keep your husband from reading your e-mail?
Rename the mail folder to "instruction manuals."

After a quarrel, a husband said to his wife, "You know, I was a fool when I married you."  The wife replied, "Yes, dear, but I was in love and didn't notice."

I married Mister Right. I just didn't know his first name was Always.

What makes men chase women they have no intention of marrying?
The same urge that makes dogs chase cars they have no intention of driving.

Horoscope Fun

Wednesday, 9 April 2008 09:23 by Rhonda

I was reading horoscopes elsewhere and thought I'd look up mine. Instead I got sidetracked and looked up something called my moon sign.... this is what it says:

Your Moon is in Virgo

On the day you were born, the Moon was in Virgo. Your ability to sort out and analyze your emotions will carry you through life, love, and your career and make it easy for you to make wise choices. You have a very down-to-earth attitude about life, and you pull no punches when it comes to telling others what they need to do about their issues. Nevertheless, you always come from the place of wanting to help out, since you are happiest when you are helping others. (FROM MSN ASTROLOGY).

Now I'm more than a little sidetracked, but have to admit this is very true for me, of course I'm sure it would cover a lot of people but still I think a good plunge into horoscopes sometimes is fun.

Patience

Wednesday, 2 April 2008 15:18 by Rhonda

Patience a virtue?

Well I don’t have it.

I don’t like to wait.

However, I am getting better...

Over the years I have tried to learn to be more patient. I try to think first, speak or act later. It doesn’t always work out, but sometimes it does, sometime even for the better.

I had a light bulb moment a few years ago and figured out what I needed to do with the stories that are forever running amok in my mind. If I write them, they will go away.  Sort of like the line from Field of Dreams, “If you build it they will come.”

What does this have to do with patience? Well for me I can write out a chapter or two or three and get ‘the people out of my head’ at least for a while. And if I’m patient the rest of their story will come, usually.

This is where I loose patience. Sometimes (like recently) some other ‘opening’ or scene will pop into my head and it will not budge. At some point I give up, open a new document and write that new idea/chapter, whatever.

Once I set that ‘new’ idea free I am rewarded with the rest of the story… or in the case of my WIP… a break through idea giving me something to run with until… you guessed it.

It’s time to be patient again!
